Steamboat area fire

Fire crews say forward progress is now stopped on two small brush fires in south Reno off of South Virginia Street near Towne Drive. 

The fires started around 2:30 p.m. on Friday and are now out, according to Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue. 

They also say that the fires are suspected to have started by lightning and burned about an acre each. 

There were no structures damaged. 

The fires are believed to have been caused by lightning strikes.
