Jairo Paredes Cota has been removed from the United States by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to Mexico via ground transportation as of March 27.

Paredes was removed once before, in 2013 after being arrested in Del Rio, Texas.

Original Story (3/6/2025, 1:50 p.m.):

U.S. Marshals and Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Jairo Paredes-Cota in Reno on Plumb Lane.

They say he was wanted out of Mexico on a charge of sexual abuse of a minor after a warrant was issued in May of 2020.

They say the alleged crime happened when he was a teacher at an Indigenous community university in Sinaloa.

Paredes was also wanted for an active administrative deportation warrant held by ICE.

He's now in ICE custody pending a deportation to Mexico.
