Governor Lombardo has ordered the early closure for all state government offices (other than essential public safety and corrections personnel) in Carson City, Churchill County, Douglas County, Lyon County, Storey County, and Washoe County.

State government offices in these areas are to close at 12:00 PM today, Thursday, February 19, 2026.

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) and the Department of Public Safety (DPS) are reporting increasingly deteriorating conditions, including icy roads and potentially dangerous driving conditions.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Governor Joe Lombardo has announced a two-hour delay for the opening of state government offices in Carson, Douglas, Storey, and Washoe counties due to ongoing severe weather.

Heavy snowfall and high winds have created hazardous driving conditions across Northern Nevada, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) and the Department of Public Safety (DPS).

As a result, state government offices in these areas will open at 10:00 AM today, Thursday, February 19, 2026.

Governor Lombardo urges all Nevadans to drive cautiously and follow guidance from local officials as adverse weather conditions persist in the region. Check NVRoads.com for the latest traffic updates and road conditions.

Meanwhile, the Storey County Clerk’s Office Vehicle Registration Window (DMV) is closed on Feb. 19, 2026. All other County offices remain open at this time.

Due to severe winter weather and hazardous driving conditions, Douglas County Manger Jenifer Davidson—after consulting with Douglas County Sheriff Dan Coverley—has authorized the closure of County offices at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

Aside from essential public safety, corrections, and courts, County offices will close for the day.
