Grand Sierra Resort and Casino has been formally recognized as a Nevada Recovery Friendly Workplace, joining nearly 50 Northern Nevada businesses committed to supporting employee wellness and recovery.

The initiative, led by Foundation for Recovery in partnership with the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services and the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services, encourages workplaces to proactively prevent substance misuse and support recovery in professional environments.

“Being named a Recovery Friendly Workplace is an incredible honor, and one that reflects our commitment to both our team members and the community we serve,” said Shannon Keel, General Manager of Grand Sierra Resort. “We want our team to thrive not only professionally but also personally, and this designation is a testament to the resources and culture we continue to build here at GSR.”

GSR is the first and only casino-resort to receive this designation, highlighting its leadership in fostering a supportive workplace culture.

An official designation ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 28, with members of the Recovery Friendly Workplace state team, Foundation for Recovery’s executive director, GSR leadership, and team members who completed the training expected to attend. Dr. Stephanie Woodard, a key architect of the program in Nevada, is also slated to present the award.

The designation builds on GSR’s broader commitment to employee wellness, which includes access to employee assistance programs, health advocates, a friendship fund, tuition reimbursement, and additional support services.
