Lyon County Deputies and the Sheriff’s Traffic Enforcement Team joined forces with Nevada State Police during Memorial Day weekend for a saturation patrol targeting impaired driving, move over law violations, and reckless driving.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office in an online post, deputies and troopers made 174 traffic stops during the holiday enforcement campaign.
The enforcement effort resulted in nine DUI arrests, 102 citations, and one arrest tied to possession of a stolen car. Authorities also seized 5 grams of methamphetamine and reported possession of counterfeit bills during the operation.
Officials reminded drivers to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles, including law enforcement, fire crews, EMS, NDOT crews, and tow truck operators working along roadways.
The Sheriff’s Office also urged people planning to drink to arrange for a sober driver, rideshare, or other transportation before getting behind the wheel.
