The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency is responding to Friday's announcement about Homewood Mountain Resort not opening for the upcoming winter season.

The TRPA says it has been working with Homewood and others to review amendments to the master plan proposed by property owners, and when Homewood finalizes that information, the TRPA will give the proposal to the governing board for consideration.

On Friday, the privately-owned company announced that due to permitting issues, their financial partner has pulled its operating funds for this year – and without that funding, Homewood cannot operate or sell season passes for this upcoming season.

The TRPA says it "understands how important Homewood is to skiers and riders and to the West Shore and we remain committed to keeping the community informed of the public process in the coming months."

Homewood says, "We remain steadfast in our belief that our proposed revised plan – which includes new state-of-the-art infrastructure, environmental improvements, community gathering spaces, public access to the ski hill, and more – meets all stated requirements, addresses all concerns, and exemplifies economic and environmental responsibility. "
