On Saturday, May 11, members of Keep Tahoe Blue and volunteers participated in the 24th annual Snapshot Day event.

The event sends small teams to numerous locations around Lake Tahoe to test the quality of the water and report their findings.

Members of Keep Tahoe Bue believe that these events are critical, as Lake Tahoe has a standard to uphold.

"Lake Tahoe is a drinking water source for lots and lots of people. It's also a massive source of recreation for people who live in the region, and Reno, and Sacramento, and the Bay Area, but also all over the world. It has an incredible reputation for being clean and clear and beautiful, so this event helps us keep tabs," said Chris Joseph, communications director for Keep Tahoe Blue.

There are many creeks, streams and smaller lakes that feed water into Lake Tahoe, so the group says it is important to test outside sources for any red flags.

Keep Tahoe Blue is always looking for ways to improve the quality of the lake and they appreciate volunteers.
