Waste Management of Northern Nevada held a lunch for students and staff at an unlikely place - their landfill.
'Lunch at the Landfill' is an event meant to educate people about what the landfill does for the community and for sustainability in northern Nevada.
"Here in Nevada we may not be on the forefront of sustainability, but there's a lot of push to get there," says Waste Management Contract Manager Kendra Kostelecky. "There's a lot of interest in being green here, and so we want to work with our community partners to give them what they want."
At the event, students were educated about what the various machines at the landfill do and why each one is important.
This is the second year that the lunch has taken place with the name 'Lunch at the Landfill' - it was previously called 'Dine at the Dump.'
