A man was arrested in Storey County on multiple gun charges after deputies attempted contact to serve an active warrant.
According to the Storey County Sheriff’s Office, in an online Facebook post, deputies made contact with a man on June 15 at approximately 1:41 p.m. who had an extraditable warrant from New River Township for battery with a $1,000 bail.
Deputies informed the man, later identified as Charles Wills, that he had a warrant.
When deputies asked Wills if he had any weapons on him, Wills, who had recently moved to Nevada from Oregon, stated yes and that he would use it if deputies attempted to arrest him.
Deputies took Wills into custody following a short altercation.
Deputies say he was found to have a concealed gun. Further investigation revealed he was also in possession of two additional guns and live ammunition.
Wills was booked into the Storey County Detention Facility on charges of prohibited person in possession of a firearm (three felony counts), conceal carrying without a permit (one felony count), resisting a public officer with use of a firearm, weapons violation (one felony count), and arrest on other agency warrant (misdemeanor).
