A man faces several charges in connection with a shooting that injured a man in Palomino Valley on Sunday night.
Deputies say the shooting happened near Wilcox Ranch and Amy Roads around 8 p.m.
They say the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was flown by Care Flight to a nearby hospital where he is getting treatment.
Deputies say the preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’s wife was being followed by a suspicious car when her husband, the victim, responded to help her.
The suspect, later identified as Andrew Strother, opened fire on the victim’s car, striking him multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Witnesses assisted until deputies arrived.
Around 9:45 p.m., deputies got a call about a suspicious person at a 7-Eleven on Eagle Canyon Drive.
Washoe County Deputies and the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony Tribal Police quickly responded.
The driver of the car, identified as Strother, matched the description of the shooting suspect.
Strother was booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on the following charges:
* Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
* Possession of a Stolen Firearm
* Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle
* Discharging a Firearm into a Vehicle
* Battery with a Deadly Weapon
The investigation is ongoing.
Detectives are processing evidence recovered from the scene, and additional details will be released as they become available.
