Elko Police serve search warrant leads to arrest of two people

The Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) of the Elko Police Department served a search warrant and arrested two people from Elko.

The Elko Police Department says that just after midnight on Sunday morning, March 16, 55-year-old David Dearing and 36-year-old Sharnae Dudley were taken into custody.

They say CSU members had been informed that Dearing, who had been on the run after breaking his parole, could be found inside the house located in the 700 block of 13th Street, where drugs were being sold.

Police say because the house was close to Elko High School, detectives wanted to make sure their work wouldn't have an impact on any students.

After being arrested without incident, Dearing and Dudley are being held without bond at the Elko County Jail on drug-related charges and warrants.

Police say if Dearing and Dudley are found guilty of their allegations, selling illegal drugs within 1,000 feet of a school will carry an enhanced sentence.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone who has information concerning the sale or illicit use of narcotics is encouraged to call the non-emergency Elko Dispatch line at 775-777-7300 or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.
