Scam Alert

The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about two new scams making the rounds, one a phone scam and the other a text scam.

In the phone scam, someone is calling residents claiming to be "Deputy David Bryan." The MCSO does not have an employee by that name.

If you receive a call from someone using that name, the Sheriff's Office says to hang up immediately.

In the text message scam, scammers are sending messages claiming to be from the United States District Court regarding outstanding arrest warrants.

Courts and law enforcement will never text you an arrest warrant.

The Sheriff's Office reminds people to never send money, gift cards, or wire transfers to anyone demanding payment over the phone or via text message.

Never share personal information, Social Security numbers, or banking details with unsolicited callers or texters.

If you are ever unsure whether a caller or message claiming to be from local law enforcement is legitimate, call the Sheriff's Office to verify.
