Update: August 19
The brand new Moana Springs Community Aquatics and Fitness Center is scheduled to open to the public early next month.Â
The September 3rd grand opening ceremony is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.Â
The City of Reno previously shared a sneak peek at the new Moana Springs Community Aquatics and Fitness Center.
Moana Pool permanently closed in 2007. Since then, Sierra Nevada Community Aquatics, a non-profit, was formed to rebuild an aquatics facility and spearheaded the design of the new Moana Springs Aquatic & Fitness Center.Â

Original Story: August 2
Crews are busy putting the final touches on the Moana Springs Community Aquatics & Fitness Center.Â
When finished, it'll be Reno's first new pool in almost 40 years.Â
The project costs $52 million including a $9 million pledge from the William N. Pennington Foundation. The remaining funding will come from the General Capital Improvement Fund & Tax-Exempt General Obligation Bond.
The new 52,000-square-foot facility will include a 50-meter indoor competition pool, multi-use indoor recreation pool, outdoor soaking pool, 5,000-square-foot fitness room, locker rooms and multi-use rooms.
Site work started in August 2022 - Moana Pool permanently closed in 2007.
The pool is anticipated to open by late August, but no official date has yet been announced.Â
