The new Moana Springs Community Aquatics and Fitness Center got a $250,000 donation from the Atlantis Casino on Wednesday.

Reno City councilmembers officially accepted the donation during their public meeting.

The funds will go to purchasing equipment, the fitness center and multipurpose rooms.

The anticipated facility will include a 50-meter Olympic sized pool, wading pools, splash pads, birthday rooms, a gymnasium and fitness classes.

Moana Pool permanently closed in 2007. Since then, Sierra Nevada Community Aquatics (SNCA), a non-profit, was formed with a mission to rebuild an aquatics facility and spearhead the proposed Moana Springs design.

Moana Springs will be located at 240 West Moana Lane adjacent to the existing soccer fields.

Construction started in July 2022 and it's expected to be completed in August 2024.
