Mono County Emergency Alert System Test

Mono County's Office of Emergency Management will conduct a test of its Emergency Alert System this Thursday at 10 a.m. to evaluate how well the system reaches people in case of a real emergency.

The test will send an audible alert to all cell phones in the designated areas, including the Town of Mammoth Lakes, Crowley Lake, Tom’s Place, Paradise, Swall Meadows, Chalfant, and Benton.

People who are registered for Mono Alerts through the Ready Mono platform will also receive the test message by text, phone call, or email. Messages will be delivered in English or Spanish, depending on the user’s language preference.

The message will be clearly marked as a TEST ONLY, and no action is required from anyone who receives it.

Officials emphasized the importance of this test as part of their ongoing efforts to improve the county’s emergency notification system.

Residents living in the test areas who do not receive the alert are encouraged to sign up for local emergency messages at ready.mono.ca.gov.

The READY Mono system is designed to provide direct updates from county officials during emergencies.
