A motorcycle rider is dead after crashing on I-80 east in Sparks Sunday night.

Nevada State Police say around 9:30 p.m., the rider lost control of the motorcycle, ran off the highway, and hit a concrete barrier causing him to be thrown from the bike.

The rider died on scene. 

A detour was set up on Nugget Avenue from Pyramid Way to East McCarran Boulevard.Â
