Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is officially open for this year's winter season.

Even though the visibility was on and off throughout the day, that didn't stop hundreds of visitors from coming out and finally hitting the slopes.

Mikey, a snowboarder from California, says, "Snow was great, but visibility not so much. I mean, if the sun would poke through, it'd be a great day."

Jairo, a Reno snowboarder, says, "Honestly, I like a little bit of a challenge, it's kind of cool, a bit of a vibe."

Mt. Rose says the last few storms really helped, but it still took a lot of manpower and snowmaking to open up earlier than other resorts.

Only a few slopes are open for now, including the Ponderosa and Kit Carson Bowl.

The ski resort says on days like this, it's important to stay extra cautious and wear bright colors so other people can see you easily.

Julie Johnson, the resort's marketing specialist, says, "When it's low visibility, I'd say take it slow. You know I know everyone's excited on their first day, but I'd say take it slow, take your time, don't go too fast, keep your distance between other people, ski with a buddy."
