Many area school districts have delayed classes due to weather on Friday, February 20.Â
2-HOUR DELAY
* Washoe County School District. Winter bus stops will be in effect. All morning half-day early childhood programs will be canceled.
* Storey County School District. School officials say they will not have their usual early out day and instead will end at their regular time.
* St. John's Children's CenterÂ
* Mater AcademyÂ
* Pinecrest Academy of Northern Nevada Â
* Coral Academy of Science Reno - all five campuses will operate on a 2-hour delayÂ
OTHER DELAYS:Â
* University of Nevada will delay the start of non-essential campus operations (campus operations refers to any work performed at the main University campus, office, property, field work or sponsored events in Reno) until 10 a.m. Web classes and remote operations will continue as scheduled. All in-person classes before 10 a.m. are canceled. The Redfield campus, Building A at 18600 Wedge Pkwy., and the University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe’s Wayne L. Prim Campus are also on a delay and will open at 10 a.m.Â
* All TMCC campus locations will have a delayed start until 11 a.m. All classes and services will operate remotely before 11 a.m. via Canvas, Zoom or other internet-based tools. Regular in-person classes and services will resume once physical locations are open. The Child Care Center will open at 10:30 a.m. for families.
* Alpine Academy will be on a delayed start
CLOSED:Â
* Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. They ask for families to stay clear, that way crews can clear roadways and make space for bus stops.
