Mt. Rose Highway is clear again at the summit after NDOT's avalanche control system brought down 15 feet of snow.
NDOT posted photos of the controlled snow slide on X on Tuesday.
It recommends unnecessary traveling if possible. If you do have to travel, be prepared for possible chain controls, in higher elevations.
Winter Storm Warnings in effect in Washoe, Storey, Carson City, and Douglas Counties as well as the Sierra. Snow and wind will be the main story today as snowfall will be expected to remain between 3-5 inches to the valley floor with feet at lake level, 6-12 inches around foothill communities.Â
