The final day to cast a ballot in Nevada's 2026 general election is here, with polling locations opening across the Silver State Tuesday morning. From Reno and Sparks to rural Northern Nevada communities and Southern Nevada, voters will have until 7 p.m. to make their voices heard.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. local time. Anyone standing in line when polls close will be allowed to cast a ballot.

For those who have not yet voted, here's a breakdown of what to know, where to find polling locations, how to check wait times and where to follow election results as they come in.

WHERE TO VOTE

Voters across Nevada can use the Nevada Secretary of State's 2026 election information page to find their county election office and get information about Election Day voting.

In Northern Nevada, Washoe County has 41 vote centers open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters can use any vote center in the county, regardless of where they live.

Washoe County has also designated six locations as "Super Centers," with additional equipment and staffing to accommodate higher voter turnout. A complete list of vote centers, an interactive map and estimated wait times are available through the county's vote center map.

Carson City voters can find local information through the Carson City Elections Office. Residents in Douglas, Lyon, Storey, Churchill, Pershing, Humboldt, Elko and other Northern Nevada counties can use the Nevada Secretary of State's county election resources.

CHECK WAIT TIMES BEFORE HEADING OUT

Washoe County voters can check vote center locations and available wait-time information before leaving home.

The information can help voters compare locations in Reno, Sparks and surrounding communities. All 41 Washoe County vote centers also offer accessible voting options, including ADA curbside voting.

There is no single statewide wait-time tracker, so voters in other counties should contact their local election office for available information.

WHAT IF YOU HAVEN'T RETURNED YOUR MAIL BALLOT?

Voters who have completed their mail ballots can return them at an official ballot drop box in their county before polls close.

In Washoe County, official ballot drop boxes are available at vote centers until 7 p.m. Voters can find ballot drop-off locations through the county's vote center map.

Washoe County voters can also use the standalone ballot drop box at Summerset Assisted Living. All official ballot drop boxes will close at 7 p.m. Voters dropping off completed mail ballots do not need to wait in the regular voting line.

The county is encouraging voters to use official ballot drop boxes rather than mailing completed ballots on Election Day.

Under Nevada law, mail ballots returned through the U.S. Postal Service must be postmarked on or before Nov. 3 and received by 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, to be eligible for counting. The county notes that recent changes to postal operations mean ballots mailed on Election Day may not always receive a same-day postmark.

Those who want to check the status of a mail ballot can use Nevada's MyBallot voter information and ballot tracking system.

CAN YOU STILL REGISTER TO VOTE?

Eligible Nevadans who have not registered or need to update their registration can use same-day voter registration at an Election Day polling location.

Washoe County offers same-day voter registration at all 41 vote centers.

Voters can review Nevada's voter registration information for registration and identification requirements before heading to a vote center.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT BALLOT MARKING DEVICES

Washoe County voters may notice a change in the voting process if they haven't voted in person recently. Ballot marking devices were introduced during the 2026 Primary Election and are being used again for the general election.

Voters make their selections on a touchscreen, print their completed ballot and then cast the paper ballot themselves.

The Registrar of Voters has also provided an instructional video to help voters familiarize themselves with the process before heading to a vote center.

FOLLOW ELECTION RESULTS RIGHT HERE

Once polls close statewide, attention will turn to the results. Nevada voters will be watching local, regional and statewide races, while major national races will also draw attention across the country.

Unofficial results will begin being released after all vote centers across Nevada have closed and the last voter has cast a ballot. The initial results will include early voting totals and mail ballots processed and counted through Election Night. Additional results will include Election Day in-person voting and more mail ballots as they are processed.

Washoe County anticipates updating its results approximately hourly throughout Election Night, with the final update expected shortly after 3 a.m.

Our newsroom will be following results as counties begin reporting, with a focus on Northern Nevada races and the issues affecting our communities, along with important developments from across the state and country.
