The new Stead Elementary School is now ready for the upcoming school year after two years of construction.
The new school was built near the previous school site, along Cloudburst Drive and Silver Dollar Lane, north of Reno.
The previous school was built in the 1950s.
The new two-story school features a STEAM lab, media center, group learning spaces, and enhaced classrooms.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Wednesday.
The Washoe County School District says Stead Elementary School was slated for rebuilding under the Facility Modernization Plan after being approved by the Board of Trustees in 2023.
WCSD Board of Trustees approved the design phase activities funding for the rebuild of Stead Elementary School at the February 13, 2024, meeting in the amount of $3.5 million. On November 12, 2024, the BOT approved and awarded the construction project to Clark/Sullivan Construction for $54,254,370.
