A rollover crash on I-80 near Central Carlin has killed one and sent all of the passengers to the hospital. 

It happened on Interstate 80 (I-80) at mile marker 279 in Elko County near the junction with State Route 278 (SR278) one mile west of the Central Carlin exit on Wednesday, July 31 at around 2:00 p.m.

According to a preliminary investigation, Nevada State Police Highway Patrol (NHP), determined that a White 2014 Toyota Highlander SUV traveling east on I-80 in the leftmost lane drove off the shoulder after failing to maintain a lane.

The driver steered right over-correcting causing the SUV to go across both eastbound lanes and onto the outside shoulder where it overturned.

The driver identified as 34-year-old Dennis Kunz of Elko, was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the SUV causing fatal injuries and he died on the scene.  

All of the passengers in the SUV were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

NHP says the crash is still under investigation,
