The Churchill County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) has provided a report on a fire fought in Fallon on Sunday.
In a release, CCSO says that around 11:20 a.m. they and Fallon Churchill Fire Department (FCFD) were called to the area of Reno Highway and Sheckler Cutoff east of Fallon for an out of control fire.
After an initial assessment, FCFD called for more aid since the fire was spreading toward residential areas.
Personnel from multiple agencies arrived to the scene to assist, including:
- Fallon Police Department
- Banner Churchill EMS
- Nevada Highway Patrol
- Nevada Department of Transportation
- NAS Fire
- North Lyon Fire
- Tahoe Hand Crew
- Truckee Meadows Fire
- Nevada Division of Forestry
- Search and Rescue
One home was lost to the fire and two other homes were severely damaged. Some trailers and outbuildings were damaged to some extent by the fire as well.
Officials from the State Fire Marshals Office arrived on scene, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
