Critical Incident Summary: Lakemill Lodge

ORIGINAL STORY:

Police have shot a man at the shuttered Lakemill Lodge in downtown Reno.

The suspect was transported to a Renown Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries.

Police say they responded around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday to a report of a man with a gun who then barricaded himself inside the empty building.

At some point, SWAT was called in to assist and some kind of altercation took place when the shooting happened, around 10 a.m.

As of now, the suspect's identity has not been released.

Police say no officers were hurt.

The Regional Officer-Involved Shooting Protocol was enacted, and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation with assistance from the Sparks Police Department.

The investigation is ongoing.

Authorities say there's no threats to the public.

Once this investigation is complete, it will be submitted to the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Health inspectors shut down the property Wednesday after drugs, and human waste was found in the common areas.

Lakemill Lodge will stay closed until those spaces are cleaned and then cleared by Northern Nevada Public Health and the City of Reno.
