9:10 P.M. UPDATE:
A power outage following a crash in the area of south Reno and Washoe Valley happened after the Reno Fire Department requested a power shut-off for safety reasons.
The Fire Department was working to avoid the risk of an explosion while removing the car from the power box it hit according to a spokesperson.
Once NV Energy shut the power lines off the RFD was able to successfully remove the person and the car from the transformer box.

A power outage affecting nearly 2,700 people in the south Reno and Washoe Valley area has been largely resolved, and the cause has been identified as a car crash.
210 people remain affected by the outage.
NV Energy is estimating on its outage map that power should be restored to those still affected by 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
A car driven by an elderly man drove through the fence of an apartment complex, hitting a power box, according to a spokesperson.
Police say nobody was injured and there were no signs of impairment.

Nearly 2,700 people are without power in the area of south Reno and Washoe Valley on Monday night.
According to NV Energy's outage map, the outage is centered near Mount Rose Highway and I-580.
The outage was first reported at 3:50 p.m.
The cause of the outage is under investigation and there is no estimated time for power to be restored.
