Reno is the home of the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Reno City Plaza. As the Christmas season approaches, the City of Reno is inviting people to come see the tree lighting in downtown.

The ceremony for the tree lighting starts at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 28, but starting earlier in the evening at 4 p.m. the 2025 Holiday Lights Festival, hosted by Great American Craft Fairs, will have lights and family activities.

The festival runs from November 28th through the 29th, with a second weekend from December 5th through the 6th, featuring local vendors for holiday shopping, photos with Santa, train rides, live music, holiday movies, kids craft zones, food trucks, local breweries.

"This is such a fun and important tradition that the city hosts every year, and I invite our community to join us in kicking off the holiday season,” said Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve. “Events like this bring our community together, and I can’t wait to turn on the Christmas tree lights and see the holiday magic come to life.”

According to the City of Reno, free parking is available in the City Hall parking garage located at University Way and E. First Street.
