Wild Island

Wild Island waterpark is expected to reopen soon after police determined a reported threat to be unfounded on Thursday.

Sparks Police initially responded to a call of an active threat of someone reported to have a gun inside the waterpark at 11:48 a.m.

Officers arrived on scene two minutes later and immediately started helping staff clear out the park grounds.

The entire park was cleared and they say no threat was found, and determined the threat to be unfounded.

Police tell us they've actually seen an increase in this type of swatting call and that they take every call seriously.

If you have any information that can help authorities, call or text your anonymous tip to Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.

On Facebook, the waterpark says, "Guests who have already purchased admission for today will have their tickets honored upon reopening. If you prefer not to return today, please bring your admission ticket and receipt to the Wild Island Main Office within 7 days to receive a rain check. For questions regarding admission, please email admissions@wildisland.com"
