People looking to give back this week can help the RTC Stuff A Bus Food Drive on Thursday as the agency works to support families across the community.
The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County will gather non-perishable items from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. outside the Sam’s Club at 4835 Kietzke Lane.
“The holidays are here, and RTC is always excited to partner with Food Bank of Northern Nevada to help our community and riders,” RTC Public Information Officer Josh MacEachern said.
The drive accepts a wide range of shelf-stable goods. Canned meals like stews, soups, and spaghetti or ravioli are needed along with protein items such as peanut butter, tuna, salmon, chicken, and dried or canned beans.
Along with grains like whole grain cereal, oatmeal, brown rice, and whole grain pasta are also welcome along with canned or dried fruits, applesauce, and 100 percent fruit juice boxes.
Canned vegetables with no salt added, or low-sodium are recommended along with shelf-stable milk.
Baby items such as formula, infant cereal, and baby food are also part of the donation list.
All donations will go to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada which will distribute the items to homes that need support.
