According to the National Weather Service in Reno, Saturday's high temperature of 57 degrees is a new record.
The measurement, taken at the Reno-Tahoe Airport, is the all-time lowest high temperature during the month of August.
This breaks a 100-plus year old record - the previous low being 58 degrees recorded in both 1920 and 1907.
