Last Friday, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office received word that a possible out-of-compliance sex offender was living in the Yerington area.
An investigation was conducted, and officials found that 73-year old Cody Kenneth Smith of Yerington, a Tier 3 sex offender, was in violation of his registration requirements.
Smith was arrested and booked into the Lyon County Jail, charged with a count of violating sexual offender registration requirements, which is a felony.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office Sex Offender Task Force says that they are dedicated to ensuring that all sex offenders living in Lyon County are in compliance with their registration requirements, and that their mission is to ensure 100% compliance.
