The South Lake Tahoe Airport was briefly closed Wednesday after a small plane went off a runway.
When emergency crews arrived on scene, around 9 a.m. they found the pilot nearby – with no injuries.
While there was no fire or HAZMAT issues, fire crews say they still put a precautionary wet line around the aircraft for safety reasons.
The incident is being investigated by the FAA and NTSB.
South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and South Lake Tahoe Police all responded.
“The scene has been turned over to the Interim Airport Manager, who is following all protocol to get the aircraft removed," says South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue in a statement.
