The Sparks City Council voted to approve an increase to sewage rates at a meeting on Monday.
At the same meeting, they also voted to increase sewer connection fees and septage rates.
The increases will take place on April 1.

The Sparks City Council on Monday approved the Sewer Rate Study Business Impact Statement tied to proposed sewer rate increases.
City officials clarified that this was not the first reading of the rate increase itself. Instead, the approval allows the proposal to move forward. The council is expected to vote on the actual sewer rate hikes in January.
According to city staff, the proposed increases are intended to help cover rising costs driven by inflation and ensure the long-term sustainability of the sewer system.
At the same meeting, the council also unanimously approved a grant agreement to support the development of affordable housing on I Street.
Earlier this year, the council selected the Reno Housing Authority to lead the I Street Apartments project, which will feature 12 adaptable, affordable units.
