Update (10/29, 11:41 a.m.):

Mario Fertini of Sparks has had his probation revoked and has been sentenced to life for illegal possession of a firearm and drug trafficking.

Fertini was originally arrested in December 2019 following a pursuit that ended in the arrest and recovery of methamphetamine and heroin. For those crimes, Fertini was sentenced to a 4-10 year prison sentence, which was suspended for a 3-year term of probation.

Less than a year later, officials were informed that Fertini was once again trafficking and selling drugs. A police operation was executed to purchase drugs from Fertini.

Fertini was again arrested and more than 4,000 grams - approximately ten pounds - of methamphetamine was recovered. A gun was also found in his bedroom.

The initial probation for Fertini was revoked, and he was sentenced to serve out the original 4-10 year sentence, as well as a consecutive life sentence.

He will be eligible for parole after 22 years for the most recent case.

ORIGINAL STORY:

33-year old Mario Fertini of Sparks was convicted of five counts on August 8 after being arrested and found with nine pounds of methamphetamine.

Fertini was found guilty of two counts of Trafficking in a Schedule I Controlled Substance (400 Grams or More), Conspiring to Violate the Uniform Controlled Substances Act, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell and Being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Last September, a detective with the Reno Police Department was told that Fertini, also known as Anttwon Fogers, was selling drugs in the Reno/Sparks area. A check uncovered that an active felony warrant for attempted drug trafficking.

After surveillance was conducted, Fertini was arrested for the outstanding warrant and during a search of his apartment, law enforcement found a total of 9 pounds of meth and a gun.

Sentencing for the case is set for October 28 before the Honorable Judge Scott Freeman.
