Sparks Retail Op 2

The Sparks Police Department (SPD) has released information regarding a targeted operation that was carried out last week.

The SPD Neighborhood Police Unit, Support Services Section and Homeless Outreach Proactive Engagement Team focused on Lowe's and Target in Sparks for this effort.

Officers arrested seven people and gave three others tickets during the controlled operation.

During one of the arrests, 18-year-old Byren Price of Reno was found with a stolen gun which he had concealed on himself. Price fled from officers, and then waded through the North Truckee Drain along Sparks Boulevard before trying to hide in a trashcan.

Charges handed to those arrested include felony price tag altering, petit larceny, obstructing with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, one felony warrant and five misdemeanor warrants.

Officers say that $764 worth of stolen merchandise was also recovered.
