Flying the friendly skies for the holiday amped up this week at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

RNO is expected to see over 16,000 people pass through the airport over the break. Airline officials anticipate March 14 through March 28 to be the busiest peak travel days.

People all across the country travel from near and far to experience a little winter adventure for spring break.

Many travelers decided to skip the tropical destination this year and make their getaway to beautiful Tahoe for a little ski and snow fun.

Alexander Ugniza is visiting from Hawaii; he says, "I'm from the big island of Hawaii - we are going to get an Airbnb, ski and snowboard, and visit with my son in pilot school in Bakersfield."

Scott Bratcher and his family flew in from Texas. This trip marks their very first visit to the Reno-Tahoe area and shares their excitement: "We are here for four days, most the time we're going to be doing skiing and snowboarding.  She has some spa activities booked as well. Then we're doing some tubing - anything to get our in that snow we never get to see."

Tatiana Salvador is a first-time visitor and said her kids are excited for the trip.  "Never skied in Tahoe before and I kind of started skiing later in life, but really have enjoyed it and my kids really enjoy it, so we have done it quite frequently," said Salvador.

Airport parking is in high demand, and officials suggest planning ahead if you intend on leaving your vehicle at one of the onsite lots.

For locals who prefer to catch a Lyft or Uber, RNO is offering more than 2,000 rideshare vouchers.

A promo code is set-up through the ride in-app when you book your trip and the discount is applied there.

The promotion runs until all vouchers are redeemed and ends on March 30th.  For additional details you can find more information on the RNO website.
