The Storey County Sheriff's Office terminated a deputy who was accused of sexual assault.

According to an online Facebook post, the Storey County Sheriff's Office charged a detention facility deputy of sexually assaulting a female inmate and fired him on Sunday, April 6.

The post says the Sheriff's Office began an immediate investigation into the allegations after learning of an incident involving deputy Ian Alexander Nelson on April 5 at approximately 11:15 p.m.

Probable cause to arrest Deputy Nelson was established during the investigation, and he was charged and placed under $100,000 bond at the Storey County Detention Facility.

Nelson was later moved to a facility in another jurisdiction, where he is now being kept.

The Storey County sheriff's office said it takes this matter very seriously and will update the public on any new information.
