A man has been arrested in Carson City on charges of attempted murder after an early morning shooting.

According to a press release from the Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at Carson Tahoe Hospital on a report of a man who had come to the hospital after being shot in the leg.

An investigation identified 41-year-old Fernando Luna-Ortiz as the suspect in the shooting, which happened on Champion Street in East Carson City.

According to the release Luna is believed to have fled on foot on Mayflower Drive after the shooting. He was later found and arrested during a traffic stop at the intersection of Bel Aire and Mayflower just after 10:30 a.m.

The gun used in the shooting was found as well.

Luna is being held at the Carson City Jail on charges including attempted murder with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon, prohibited person in possession of a firearm, and discharging a firearm within the city limits.

He is being held on $250,000 bond.

The Sheriff's Office is asking the public in the area of the shooting to check their home surveillance cameras for the time of the shooting.
