For the fourth year, "Swish for a Wish" is back in action.

To make this event a reality Make-A-Wish has been partnering with the Nevada men's basketball team and America First Credit Union.

The fundraiser invites everyone to donate money to help Make-A-Wish Nevada grant life changing wishes for children battling critical illnesses.

One of the Make-A-Wish families, the Saldanas, were in attendance; daughter Aliyana was diagnosed with leukemia when she was only four, and now she's in remission.

Aliyana's wish was to go to her favorite theme park to meet all of her favorite characters and princesses, and her wish was granted.

Her mother Estela says, "Staying up and talking to her while we were laying in the hospital bed, or our rides home from our treatments - one thing we always talked about was her wish. And that was to go to an amusement park and, of course, eat all the cotton candy that she wanted. And we were very blessed and so grateful [that] through the generosity of other people her wish came true, and it is something that we talk about to this day."

They say the experience brought her hope and joy during a difficult time.

Despite Aliyana's hardships she's always praying for other children she sees at the hospital during her chemotherapy treatments.

The event isn't called "Swish for a Wish" for nothing - there are two ways you can participate if you want to give back to the Make-A-Wish Nevada program.

Donors can pledge any amount based on the number of free throws the Nevada men's basketball team makes throughout the season or make a one-time donation of any amount.

Today, America First Credit Union executives presented a check to Make-A-Wish for $10,000. They've donated this every year since the 2021-2022 season.

This year, they're hoping to raise $40,000, and they're already halfway there with $26,000 raised, to date - and you know they're having fun doing it.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation says they were founded on communities coming together, and that's exactly what this fundraiser is all about.
