Saturday is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, and local organization Safe Embrace has been working on a project to help area businesses.
"The 86 Project" is aimed at educating hospitality workers and restaurant employees about signs to look for that could potentially identify both human trafficking and sexual abuse.
"It's made a big impact. We've been doing the presentation at various establishments - everything from bars, restaurants," says Leslie Berg, Client Services Manager at Safe Embrace. "We'd like to think that, you know, getting the word out there, getting the training is going to help someone."
Safe Embrace says to wear blue on Saturday to show solidarity with human trafficking and sexual assault survivors.
More information about The 86 Project can be found on Safe Embrace's website.
