Truckee Meadows Water Authority sent out a PSA on Wednesday morning, warning residents that salespeople asking to test your water are not TMWA employees.

TMWA says they have received several reports from customers of salespeople asking residents to allow them inside their homes to, "test the water."

TMWA says that these people are not affiliated with them and that their employees will never come to your home unannounced and ask to enter to collect a water sample. 

If they need to collect a sample from your home, it is their practice to collect it from an outside water source. 

TMWA employees will always have proper identification and drive cars with clearly marked TMWA logos.

Truckee Meadows Water Authority urges residents to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity or people to local law enforcement as well as TMWA's customer service team at (775) 834-8080.Â
