Two men were arrested on Tuesday after an incident involving a weapon in the parking lot of Desert Skies Middle School.
It happened at the end of the school day on December 16, according to a release from the Washoe County School District Police Department.
A driver with a child in their vehicle, identified as Humberto Mendoza Jr., was illegally parked in designated accessible parking spaces at the school, according to police.
Another driver, identified as Pablo Calzada Moreno, confronted Mendoza, and an argument started. During the argument, Moreno allegedly pointed a gun at Mendoza.
Both Mendoza and Moreno left the school and went to another location, where another incident happened.
Mendoza returned to Desert Skies Middle School and was arrested for possession of a weapon after a gun was found in his car, according to a WCSD spokesperson.
Moreno was arrested after a high-risk traffic stop on Pyramid Highway, police said.
Mendoza was charged with two counts of possessing a dangerous weapon on school or childcare property, a misdemeanor.
Moreno was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, three counts of child abuse or neglect, first offense, both felonies. He was also charged with possessing a dangerous weapon on school or childcare property, a misdemeanor.
There were no reported injuries, and no continued threat to the school or public.
The incident remains under investigation.
