On Saturday afternoon, the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) Athletic Director Stephanie Rempe sent out a statement regarding a recent ruling by a federal judge that allows colleges to pay their student athletes directly.
According to the release, UNR had already opted into the House Settlement as determined by the case House v. NCAA.
The school believes that to remain competitive in the Mountain West Conference and to be able to continue to attract student athletes, they need to embrace the change.
On July 1, 2025, they will begin compensating UNR athletes under the newly-proposed revenue-sharing model.
Funding sources for the new revenue-sharing program include season ticket purchases, donations and other philanthropic support, sponsorships, concessions, licensing and more.
