Virginia City is set to welcome hundreds of classic cars as the official kickoff location for the 40th anniversary of Hot August Nights during a two-day celebration on Friday, July 31, and Saturday, August 1.

Nearly 400 registered classic cars are expected to line historic C Street for the annual Show-n-Shine from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Visitors can explore Virginia City's shops, restaurants, museums, and saloons while taking in one of Nevada's best-known automotive events.

“Hot August Nights has become a summer tradition for so many families, and we're honored to welcome participants and visitors as they kick off this milestone 40th anniversary celebration,” said Todd Tuttle, tourism director for Virginia City. “We're already seeing incredible momentum this year, with registration numbers way ahead of where we have ever been. We encourage visitors to ‘Stay a Spell’ by making a weekend of it, booking their lodging early and experiencing everything Virginia City has to offer beyond the car show.”

Historic C Street will be closed to traffic during event hours as Hot August Nights volunteers help park the classic cars throughout the area. Organizers encourage visitors to walk the street, view the cars, and enjoy the town's historic attractions.

The celebration also includes live entertainment throughout the weekend with DJs Steve West and Rich West, along with a free concert by Arizona Jones.

“There isn’t a better place to begin Hot August Nights than Virginia City. With its rich history, iconic streets, and one-of-a-kind photo opportunities, it’s the perfect backdrop to kick off a celebration of classic cars, nostalgia, and Hot August Nights fun,” said Lisa Jansen, executive director at Hot August Nights. “We’re excited to welcome everyone back for another unforgettable year.”
