Prescription Drugs

Officials in both Washoe and Douglas County will be participating in a prescription drug round up, happening Saturday, October 19.

In Washoe County, the 'Northern Nevada Rx Drug Take Back' is happening via a partnership between the Washoe County Sheriff's Office and Join Together Northern Nevada.

The duo are working with several community organizations to host the semi-annual event, which will run this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

You can stop by any of the listed drop-off locations to safely and responsibly dispose of your unused or expired medications, prescription liquids, pet medications and over-the-counter pills.

Reno drop-off locations:

  • Smith’s – 175 Lemmon Drive
  • Smith’s – 750 S. Meadows Pkwy
  • Raley’s – 1630 Robb Drive
  • Raley’s – 18144 Wedge Pkwy
  • Elks Lodge – 597 Kumle Ln


Sparks drop-off locations:

  • Baldini’s Casino – 865 S. Rock Blvd
  • Smith’s – 1255 Baring Blvd


Spanish Springs drop-off location:

  • RSIC Smoke Shop – 7655 Pyramid Hwy


Cold Springs drop-off location:

  • Cold Springs Community Center – 3355 White Lake Pkwy


Please note that Rx Drug Take Back locations will not accept sharps. To properly dispose of sharps, please visit Northern Nevada HOPES – Change Point or the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.

In Douglas County, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office will be hosting their prescription drug round up on the same day and time.

You can drop off your unused or expired medications, prescription liquids, pet medications and over-the-counter pills to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at 1038 Buckeye Road in Minden.

Again, no sharps will be accepted for either event.
