Washoe County Commission Chair Alexis Hill has officially announced her campaign for Nevada Governor in 2026.

Hill unveiled her plans in a video, pledging to fix streets, fund schools, and support families. She will face Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford in the Democratic primary.

Elected to the Washoe County Board of County Commissioners in 2020, Hill represents District 1, covering parts of the Truckee Meadows and areas along the eastern Sierra, including Incline Village and Crystal Bay at Lake Tahoe.

In her announcement, Hill said Nevadans are struggling more than ever, and she wants to fight for workers and their families while supporting community-building initiatives.

Washoe County Commission Chair Alexis Hill has revealed plans to run for governor in 2026 as a Democratic candidate.

She will formally announce her campaign in the coming months, she said in remarks to 2 News Nevada.

Once she formally enters the race, she will be facing off against Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford in the Democratic primary.

Hill said Nevadans are struggling more than ever and that she wants to fight for workers and their families. She also said she supports community building initiatives.

Hill was elected to the Washoe County Board of County Commissioners in 2020, representing Washoe County Commission District 1, which includes portions of the northwest and southwest Truckee Meadows, extending south along the eastern Sierra, including Incline Village and Crystal Bay at Lake Tahoe.Â
