SEPTEMBER 4 UPDATE:

The Washoe County District Attorney's Office has confirmed that no formal criminal charges have been filed in this incident.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE (AUGUST 20):

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested two people on Wednesday after a 3-year-old child was found alone near Oakbrook Court and Oakbrook Lane in Cold Springs.

Around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, deputies responded to a report of a child walking alone in the area, wearing only one shoe and without a guardian.

A concerned citizen who found the child contacted the Sheriff’s Office and returned the child to their residence before deputies arrived.

When deputies attempted to speak with the child’s parents on Tuesday, they did not answer the door.

On Wednesday, deputies made contact with 36-year-old Amber Luck and 48-year-old Jeremy Dalebout, both residents of Cold Springs.

After an investigation, Luck was arrested on a charge of child abuse or neglect, and Dalebout was arrested on a charge of providing false statements to obstruct a public officer.

The child is safe, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office asks the public to continue to be advocators and protectors of children in our community,” the office stated.
