A library card can open the door to far more than a stack of books, and Washoe County Library is highlighting those resources during Library Card Sign-up Month this September.
The annual celebration encourages people to explore what their local libraries offer, from downloadable eBooks and audiobooks to digital resources for job training, test preparation, and tutoring.
Washoe County Library has 12 locations where people can sign up for or renew a library card. The library also offers print materials and a variety of programs and resources for people of different ages and interests.
This year's Library Card Sign-up Month theme, “A Library Card Hits All the Right Notes,” focuses on the range of ways people can use their library, whether they're looking for something to read, a place to study, or resources to build new skills.
Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September since 1987 as an initiative of the American Library Association to encourage communities to use their libraries and promote literacy.
People can visit any Washoe County Library location or apply online for a library card. More information about library resources and programs is available at washoelibrary.org.
