The Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) Hasty Team has shared details of a water rescue made at Pyramid Lake on Saturday.

According to a post on Facebook, WCSO received a call for help from the Pyramid Lake Police Department regarding a possible water rescue on Pyramid Lake, near Anahoe Island.

Two girls had been paddleboarding on the lake and strong winds prevented them from getting back to shore.

To respond to the call, WCSO sent two Hasty Team rescue swimmers, a team paramedic, and members of the Sheriff's Specialized Vehicle Unit with their boat Marine 20.

The crew responded to the boat ramp at Pelican Point, and worked with Pyramid Lake police to quickly locate and pick up the stranded paddleboarders, who had been blown nearly six miles off shore by the wind.

Officials would like to remind boaters and those enjoying water-based activities to always wear a personal flotation device.
