With temperatures dropping, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office is reminding people not to start their car and leave it unattended to warm up.

"An unattended, running vehicle is an open invitation for theft," said the WCSO in a post on X.

The Sheriff's Office says they see a rise in burglaries at this time of year, when cars are left warming up in driveways or even in garages, as it only takes a few seconds for someone to get in and drive away.

If you have a remote start system, unse that and keep your doors locked.

Never leave keys, key fobs, or valuables inside your car, and never leave your car running unattended.
