Washoe County spent more than $4 million on an emergency contract with Sierra Nevada Construction after flash flooding hit Hidden Valley this past June.
The county's board of commissioners acknowledged the cost it at their public meeting on Tuesday.
The county says the June 19th flooding delivered about two to three inches of precipitation in less than one hour - and impacted about 365,171 square feet of pavement, 14,857 feet of pipe, 8,009 feet of ditch, 58,411 square feet of detention basin and 105 catch basins.
It adds that delaying restoration work would have increased the risk for more flooding.
The county says the estimated cost for the response to-date is $4 to $5 million.
